Middle School Competition
KISAC SPORTS GUIDELINES
The following are suggested guidelines for hosting of tournaments and events – facilities, staffing and number of teams attending may result in necessary adaptation of these guidelines.
Please communicate all rules/guidelines in advance of hosting events – this is to allow attending schools to try these out in advance.
MIDDLE SCHOOL = U14 - Grades 6,7 and 8 – Y7,8 and 9)
At MS Level, competitions are organised by age group. Students compete at Under 14 years of age. Age is taken on 1st August of the year of the competition. NB Students may not participate if they have turned 15 years of age. Note – Older students (from G78) should be entered as A teams and younger MS students (from G67) as B teams. Students can play “up” an age group but not “down” for health and safety reasons. Tournaments must offer separate A/B venues for sports where possible. Smaller schools can enter the B competition but only with the permission of the host school.
Event Formats
Middle School (HS) events are usually tournament style and should try to offer A & B competitions where possible to allow all levels of ability. Events may be staffed by KISAC teaching staff but where possible external referees should be utilised. HS events should include an overall trophy and penant for the winning teams in each competition.
